What does my staff have to do to redeem an offer?

There are two ways your staff can redeem an offer, via a mobile phone or via your restaurant’s unique redemption webpage.

Redeem via Mobile: 

If a guest is showing their mobile phone to the wait staff, the wait staff should take note of what the offer is – for example, a buy one entrée get one entrée free.  There will be a button in the email that says “Wait Staff Click Here.”  Clicking that button will pass the unique offer code to your restaurant redemption page, where Fishbowl will check to see if that offer code has been redeemed or not.  If the code has not been redeemed, your wait staff can enter in the check total, discount amount, their name and location, and click Submit to redeem the offer.  All of these fields are optional to include.  If the wait staff is in a rush, they may just click SUBMIT which marks the offer code as redeemed.  It is a best practice to train your wait staff to always complete the fields on this page, as this info will show in your reporting and enable you to show ROI for each offer.

If the code has been redeemed, a “Sorry” message will display. 

So, in summary, here are the steps for your wait staff to redeem an offer via mobile:

1.       Read the offer in the email.

2.       Click the “Wait Staff Click Here” button on the guest’s mobile phone.

3.       Complete the form with check total, discount amount, name and location.  Click SUBMIT.

4.       Take the discounted amount off the check.

Redeem via Web:

If a guest has printed out their email, and is showing it to wait staff, there will be a unique 9 digit offer code that’s printed on the email.  Your wait staff can enter that code into your restaurant’s unique redemption webpage.  You can find your redemption webpage in Fishbowl by going to the Settings Tab – Join Page.  Your Redemption page will be at the top, and will look something like this:  http://MyBistro2.fbmta.com/redeem 

This page is mobile optimized, so that you can bookmark this page on your phone or tablet. 

On this page, your wait staff can enter the 9 digit offer code that’s shown on your guest’s email.  Click the Validate button to see if that offer code has been redeemed or not.  If it has not, your wait staff may enter the check total, amount discounted, their name and location.  Then click SUBMIT.  All of these fields are optional to include.  If the wait staff is in a rush, they may just click SUBMIT which marks the offer code as redeemed.  It is a best practice to train your wait staff to always complete the fields on this page

If a guest doesn’t want to give their mobile phone to your wait staff, that’s ok.  Your wait staff can redeem their unique offer code just like they would if a guest has printed their email.  Your wait staff or manager on duty can redeem the offer via your restaurants unique redemption webpage on your mobile phone, tablet, or computer. 

So, in summary, here are the steps for your wait staff to redeem an offer via the web:

1.       Read the offer in the email.

2.       Write down the guest’s 9 digit offer code.

3.       On a mobile phone, tablet or computer, go to the restaurant’s redemption webpage.

4.       Enter the 9 digit code – click Validate.

5.       Complete the form with check total, discount amount, name and location.  Click SUBMIT.

6.       Take the discounted amount off the check.
